Conservation Management Interventions



In accordance with an Ecosystem/Environmental Management Plan, some of the following management interventions are necessary in

order to facilitate ecosystem process, meet ecosystem requirements and mitigate human-induced activities:

  • Fire & Alien Vegetation Management Plans & Project Management                                                                                                            preventative measures, ecological burning, fire fighting standby and wildfire response, and clearing programme management.

  • Veld Restoration

  • Search & Rescue of Flora / Fauna

  • Wildlife Population Management – determination of carrying capacity & translocation

  • Eradication/Control of Alien Bird & Fish Species

  • Animal & Human Conflict Management

  • Indigenous Plant Propagation

Our current portfolio includes:

  • Management of the Baboon Monitoring Project on the Cape Peninsula.
  • Eradication of alien invasive Indian House Crows from the Cape Metropole.
  • Compilation of Fire & Alien Vegetation Management Plans for private properties.

  • Population Census of Grysbok at Cape Flats Nature Reserve, determination of carrying capacity and management interventions.
  • Environmental Audit and Drafting of Annual Operating Plan for Vergelegen Estate.

  • Project Management and Implementation of Alien Vegetation Clearing projects.

  • Annual Audit of Fire Breaks of Table Mountain National Park.

  • Standby and rapid response to wildfires in Table Mountain National Park and elsewhere on the Cape Peninsula.
  • Compilation of Good Management Practice Guidelines/Manuals for private properties.
  • Search & Rescue and Translocation of flora and fauna prior to construction activities.
  • Eradication of alien invasive ducks and alien invasive fish species.

  • Removal of problem animals and domesticated fowl.


Our service record also includes:
  • Provision of fire fighting resources to conduct controlled ecological burning or burning of excess fuel at Erinvale Estate, Spier Estate and others.

  • Assistance with the establishment of Fire Protection Associations.

  • Rehabilitation of wetlands, dune systems and other degraded lands.
